Shipping, Delivery and Payment Information

Every order from T. Weatherhead & Co. is carefully inspected, packaged and prepared for shipment from our workshop in Fall River, Nova Scotia, Canada.

This page explains our order-processing times, shipping methods, delivery responsibilities, international import charges and accepted payment methods.

Shipping at a Glance

  • Orders are shipped from Fall River, Nova Scotia, Canada.

  • In-stock products normally ship within 5–7 business days.

  • Made-to-order products normally ship within 14–21 business days, unless another timeframe is shown on the product page or confirmed with your order.

  • Canadian orders are shipped using Canada Post or UPS, depending on the product and the shipping option selected at checkout.

  • Larger products, including tables and three-step step stools, are shipped within Canada using UPS.

  • United States orders are shipped using a combination of UPS and USPS, depending on the product and the options available at checkout.

  • For United States orders, applicable import taxes, duties, tariffs and brokerage fees are included in the shipping price shown at checkout.

  • International orders outside Canada and the United States are generally shipped using Canada Post and the destination country’s local postal service.

  • Tracking information is provided when available.

  • Shipping rates and available delivery options are displayed during checkout.

Order Processing Times

Because our products are handcrafted in a small Nova Scotia workshop, orders require time for final preparation, inspection and packaging before shipment.

Our usual processing times are:

  • In-stock products: normally ship within 5–7 business days.

  • Made-to-order products: normally ship within 14–21 business days.

  • Custom and personalized products: timing will be confirmed based on the requirements of the order.

Processing time refers to the period before an order is transferred to the shipping carrier. It does not include the carrier’s delivery time.

A product page, order confirmation or direct quotation may provide a different processing estimate. Where a different timeframe is provided for a particular order, that estimate will apply.

Business days do not include Saturdays, Sundays or statutory holidays.

Please contact T. Weatherhead & Co. before ordering if your purchase is required for a particular date. We will let you know whether the requested timeframe is reasonably achievable, but delivery by a specific date cannot be guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing.

Shipping Within Canada

Canadian orders are shipped using Canada Post or UPS, depending on:

  • the size and weight of the product;

  • the delivery destination;

  • the services available for that address; and

  • the shipping option selected by the customer during checkout.

Available shipping methods and prices are displayed at checkout before the order is completed.

Smaller products may be shipped using Canada Post or UPS. Larger products—including our tables and three-step step stools—are shipped using UPS because of their size and packaging requirements.

Some shipping options may not be available for every product or postal code. In those circumstances, checkout will display the services available for that particular order.

Tracking information will be sent by email after the shipment has been prepared and the carrier has accepted or scanned the package.

Shipping to the United States

Orders shipped to the United States are sent using a combination of UPS and USPS, depending on the product, package size, destination and services available at checkout.

The available shipping methods and prices are displayed during checkout so that customers can review their options before completing the purchase.

Import Charges Included

For orders shipped to the United States, applicable:

  • import taxes;

  • customs duties;

  • tariffs; and

  • brokerage fees

are included in the shipping price shown at checkout.

There should be no unexpected import, tariff or brokerage payment required when the order is delivered.

This included-charge approach is intended to provide our United States customers with a clearer total purchase cost and a more straightforward delivery experience.

If a carrier or customs representative unexpectedly contacts you requesting payment of an import charge associated with your order, please contact us before making the payment so that we can review the shipment information.

Standard state or local sales taxes collected during checkout, where applicable, will be displayed separately as part of the order total.

International Shipping Outside Canada and the United States

International orders outside Canada and the United States are generally shipped using Canada Post. Canada Post normally transfers the package to the destination country’s postal service for customs processing and final delivery.

Where available, tracking information will be provided by email.

If you prefer a different courier or require a particular delivery service, please contact us before placing your order. We may be able to prepare a separate shipping quotation.

International Duties and Import Charges

For international destinations outside Canada and the United States, import taxes, customs duties, tariffs, brokerage fees and other destination-country charges are not included unless expressly stated otherwise during checkout or in a written quotation.

These charges vary by country and are normally the responsibility of the purchaser or recipient.

T. Weatherhead & Co. does not determine or control:

  • whether an international shipment will be assessed import charges;

  • the amount of those charges;

  • the customs classification assigned by the destination country; or

  • how long a shipment will remain in customs processing.

Please consult the customs authority responsible for your destination if you require an estimate before ordering.

If your country does not appear as an available destination during checkout, please contact T. Weatherhead & Co.. We can confirm whether shipping is currently available and, where possible, provide a quotation.

Availability may depend on the destination, product, package size, carrier service and applicable product or import regulations.

Shipping Prices

Shipping prices are calculated based on factors that may include:

  • the product’s size and weight;

  • protective packaging requirements;

  • the number of products in the order;

  • the delivery destination;

  • the selected carrier and service;

  • residential, remote-area or extended-area carrier charges; and

  • applicable import costs for United States orders.

The shipping methods and prices available for a particular order are displayed during checkout.

Because larger furniture requires substantial protective packaging, its shipping price may differ significantly from the cost of shipping a smaller home accessory.

Please contact us if checkout does not provide a shipping option for your order or destination.

Delivery Estimates

Delivery estimates shown at checkout or provided by a carrier begin after the order has finished processing and has been transferred to the carrier.

Carrier delivery estimates are not guaranteed arrival dates unless the selected service is expressly identified by the carrier as guaranteed.

Delivery may be affected by:

  • destination and distance from our workshop;

  • weather conditions;

  • holidays and seasonal shipping volumes;

  • customs processing;

  • carrier service interruptions;

  • remote or rural delivery requirements;

  • incomplete or inaccurate addresses; and

  • events outside the reasonable control of T. Weatherhead & Co.

We make every reasonable effort to prepare and ship orders within the stated processing period, but we cannot guarantee carrier delivery times after a shipment has left our workshop.

Tracking Information

Where tracking is available, a shipping confirmation containing the tracking information will be sent to the email address supplied with the order.

Tracking may not update immediately after the shipping label is created. The first update usually appears after the carrier receives and scans the package.

For international postal shipments, tracking updates may pause while the package moves between Canada Post, customs authorities and the destination country’s postal service.

Please verify that the email address entered during checkout is correct and check your spam or junk folder if you do not receive a shipping confirmation.

Delivery Addresses

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address during checkout.

Please review:

  • the recipient’s full name;

  • street address;

  • apartment, suite or unit number;

  • city or municipality;

  • province, state or region;

  • postal or ZIP code;

  • country;

  • telephone number; and

  • email address

before completing the order.

Contact us as soon as possible if an address needs to be corrected. We may be able to update the address if the order has not entered production, packaging or shipping.

We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after a shipping label has been created or the package has been transferred to the carrier.

The customer may be responsible for additional shipping, address-correction, return or reshipment costs resulting from an incomplete or inaccurate address.

Post Office Boxes

The availability of delivery to a post office box depends on the product and carrier.

Canada Post may be used for eligible Canadian post office box addresses. UPS generally requires a physical street address.

Larger products and orders that must be shipped by UPS cannot be delivered to a post office box.

For United States and international addresses, the available options will depend on the carrier service displayed at checkout.

Please provide a physical delivery address when ordering a table, three-step step stool or another oversized product.

Carrier Selection

The carrier and service selected during checkout will normally be used to ship the order. However, T. Weatherhead & Co. may use a comparable service where reasonably necessary because of:

  • package dimensions;

  • carrier restrictions;

  • service interruptions;

  • delivery-address limitations;

  • remote-area requirements; or

  • another operational issue affecting the selected service.

Where a change would materially affect the delivery service or require an additional customer payment, we will attempt to contact the purchaser before shipping.

Delayed Shipments

Occasional delays can occur after an order has been transferred to the carrier.

If tracking has not updated for several business days or the shipment has passed its estimated delivery window, please:

  1. review the tracking information for carrier notices;

  2. check that the delivery address is correct;

  3. contact the carrier where appropriate; and

  4. contact T. Weatherhead & Co. if further assistance is required.

We will provide the shipment details available to us and, where appropriate, assist with a carrier inquiry or claim.

Customs delays, carrier disruptions, severe weather and other events outside our control do not automatically qualify an order for cancellation or refund while the shipment remains in transit.

Packages Marked as Delivered

If tracking shows that a package has been delivered but it cannot be located, please promptly:

  • check around the delivery location;

  • ask other members of the household;

  • check with neighbours, building staff or reception;

  • review any carrier delivery photograph or notice; and

  • contact the carrier for additional delivery information.

Please also contact us so that we can review the shipment details.

Once a carrier confirms delivery to the address supplied with the order, any replacement or refund will depend on the circumstances and the outcome of any carrier investigation.

Damaged Shipments

Every order is inspected and carefully packaged before leaving our workshop.

Please inspect your package and product promptly after delivery. If the shipping box or product appears damaged, retain:

  • the product;

  • all internal packaging;

  • the exterior shipping box;

  • the shipping label; and

  • any carrier notices.

Contact us within 3 calendar days of delivery and provide photographs of the product, packaging and shipping label.

The packaging may be required to support a carrier claim. Do not discard it or send the product back before receiving instructions from us.

Depending on the circumstances, an appropriate resolution may include a repair, replacement, partial refund or full refund.

Refused, Unclaimed and Undeliverable Shipments

Please contact us before refusing a shipment.

A package that is:

  • refused by the recipient;

  • not collected from the carrier;

  • returned because of an incomplete or incorrect address;

  • returned after repeated delivery attempts; or

  • otherwise declared undeliverable

is not automatically treated as an approved return.

A refund, where available, will not be issued until the product has been returned to T. Weatherhead & Co. and inspected.

Shipping charges, return transportation, address-correction costs, customs fees, brokerage charges and other carrier costs may be deducted from any available refund.

Custom, personalized, engraved and final-sale products remain non-refundable when refused or unclaimed, except where otherwise required by law.

Local Pickup

Local pickup is available only when offered during checkout or arranged directly with T. Weatherhead & Co.

Pickup orders are not ready until a pickup confirmation has been issued. Our workshop is not open for unannounced visits or pickups.

Please contact us before ordering if you would like to ask whether local pickup is available for a particular product.

Payments

Online payments are securely processed through Stripe.

The payment options available during checkout may include:

  • Visa;

  • Mastercard;

  • American Express;

  • Apple Pay; and

  • Google Pay.

Available payment methods may vary based on the customer’s device, browser, country and Stripe eligibility.

In-person debit and credit card transactions are processed using Square.

T. Weatherhead & Co. generally does not receive or store your complete payment-card number or card security code. Additional information about the handling of customer and transaction information is available in our Privacy Policy.

Currency and Currency Conversion

Website prices and checkout currency are displayed during the purchasing process.

Where a card issuer, bank or payment service converts the transaction into another currency, its exchange rate and currency-conversion fees may apply. These rates and fees are determined by the financial institution and are outside the control of T. Weatherhead & Co.

Returns and Cancellations

Shipping an order, refusing delivery or returning a package does not automatically create a right to a refund.

Eligibility requirements, deadlines, exclusions, cancellation terms and refund deductions are explained in our Return, Refund and Exchange Policy.

Please review that policy before returning an order.

Product Care After Delivery

Wood is a natural material that can respond to changes in humidity, temperature, direct sunlight and moisture.

After receiving your order, please review our Product Care and Maintenance instructions for guidance on cleaning, storage and ongoing care.
